Birthday Getaway to The Windy City

Hello there.  I'm back up to full speed, after returning from a five day trip to Chicago with my best friend.  We both have our birthdays in October and were looking at some extra vacation time at our respective jobs.  We stayed with her family in Des Plaines, and took some day long trips to Lincoln Park, the Navy Pier and Evanston.

Evanston is a beautiful area, home to the Evanston Art Center, housed in a beautiful brick home, the Northwestern University campus, the Evanston light house and the Baha i House of Worship, one only eight such temples in the world and currently the only one in North America.

The Evanston Art Center is housed inside a beautiful brick home located right by the beach!

The Baha i House of Worship.  A nine -sided structure that looked like an elaborate wedding cake.

Midway through our trip we saw the Blue Man Group perform and had to eat the deep dish at Pequod's Pizza in Morton Grove.

The last day was spent downtown. Chicago is so beautiful.  Some of the city was destroyed during the Great Fire in 1871 and much of that area was rebuilt with towering skyscrapers, resulting in one of the most breathtaking skylines in the world.

Cheers Chicago!  I'll come back just as soon as I can.
